Answer: You can take cataflam tablets - one tablet twice a day
for 3 days for the pain. Regarding your cyst, have a scan done on day 4
of the period to see whether it has reduced or not.Are you ovulating ?
If yes, try for a pregnancy either naturally or by IUI ( intra- uterine
insemination ) when the follicle is on the right side. if you are in
Oman and wish to see me , you can take an appointment on 245633181. |

Question
Doctor , I am 24 years old and married on
19.01.2006 , from june 2006 we r trying for a baby . now we have consult
a doctor and she told me to reduce my weight . my height is 172 and my
weight is 80Kg , Normal cycle i had , Also she advised to take folinal ,
glycomet daily till get concived and novelon for 21 days is it the way
to get pregnant
|
|
|
Answer: You probably have PCO ( polycystic ovaries ). Check that
and let me know. Giving novelon for one or two cycles may help you
ovulate later. Once you stop that, check whether you are ovulating or
not and if not, you would need to take clomid tablets. You can continue
the folinal and glycomet. All the best ! |

Question
Hello, I just found this site and have read a lot
of interesting topics. My cycle is 35 days, i never had delayed period
except this month. my LMP was June 27, 2007, and supposed to have my
next AF on august 1. but I am delayed, as of this moment. last July 20,
I did have a pinkish clear blood spot but its only for a day. I went to
the doctor, this morning , she said the blood spotting was too early to
be AF and it could be implantation bleeding.and we've done a pt test and
it was negative. I am kinda disappointed.
I have been having these symptoms i never had before, even before AF.
-Constant peeing.
-sore and tender breast.
-I do eat a lot lately, like every 30 mins. lol
-i do feel tired easily lately and sleepy,
-some kind of back pain.
-acne (small ones but lots of them)
- and i do have these cramps,(and i dont ussually have them before or
during AF. and a bit of stomach pains, (feels like theres air in my
stomach or something lol)
I told the doctor about it, and she prescribed Dydrogesterone (Duphaston)
and I should take it twice a day for 5 days.
She said if I am not pregnant, i will bleed, and if I am, I won't. is 35
days cycle considered irregular?
Thank you.,
Mhay
|
|
|
Answer: The spotting you had on July 20th could be your period,
though scanty. If you still have not got a period, repeat the urine
test. #5 days is fine, as long as you are ovulating. If the periods are
often irregular, check when you are ovulating ( by ultrasound ), to
determine your fertile period. All the best ! |

Question
Hello Doctor, I am 37 yrs old, and have had three
children. My first was a c-section, and second a vbac. My uterus
ruptured with my third. Since the urupture, I have only had my period 4
or five time in the past 7 years. My son was born in Dec. 1999. I am
trying to research having another child. Could you please tell me why I
do not get my period and what type of doctor to see? Thank you!
|
|
|
Answer: Please send me the details of your uterine rupture. ..
The following information should help you :
"Uterine rupture is a tear through the entire thickness of the
uterine wall. Opening of a surgical scar on the uterus where the
visceral peritoneum stays intact is referred to as an incomplete rupture
or dehiscence. Uterine rupture usually occurs in a woman who has had
uterine surgery such as a cesarean section, myomectomy (removal of
fibroids) , or metroplasty (repair of uterine malformation).
Rupture of an unscarred uterus is reported to occur at a rate of less
than one in 8,000 deliveries [1-3]. Uterine rupture occurs in 0.2 and
1.5 percent of pregnancies with one prior low-transverse scar, and in 4
to 9 percent of cases with a previous classic or T-shaped uterine
incisions [4]. An abnormal fetal heart rate, in particular bradycardia,
is the most consistent finding associated with uterine rupture [1,5].
Published reports over the last 100 years indicate that most women with
a previous uterine rupture have a favorable outcome in subsequent
pregnancies. The recurrence rate for uterine rupture is reported to be
between 4.8 to 19 percent with the highest rates of recurrence seen in
women with a history of a ruptured upper uterine segment (classic scar)
. All studies recommend planned cesarean delivery. Delivery between 37
and 38 weeks is recommended for patients with a history of ruptured
lower uterine segment scar. For patients with a history of a ruptured
upper uterine segment scar opinions vary as to the timing of delivery.
Some authors suggest delivery of all patient with a history of a
ruptured upper uterine segment by 35 weeks' while others recommend
admission to the hospital one week prior to the age at which labor
started in the previous pregnancy [6,7] "
If there have been intra- uterine adhesions since the rupture, it could
lead to scanty or infrequent periods. |

Answer: Your question goes to the omanaccess website and is then
sent to me, so I am unable to answer any question immediately. Since
there is a large number of questions received , there is always a delay
in receiving the questions. By now, you must have known whether you are
pregnant or not.The pain or discomfort would not indicate or rule out a
pregnancy. All the best ! |

Question
I am married for the last 1-1/2 years and want to
conceive.I am consulting a gynae and all my reports are normal
i.e.Thyroid, sugar,prolactin, Hb, SE2, FSH,LH, ultrasound of my lower
abdomen and my husband's semen test.last month laparoscopy was done and
the doc found out that both my fallopian tubes were blocked so she
opened my left tube.My menses have always been regular. Now a follicular
study is being done.On my 11 th day the size was 18mm and a pregnyl shot
of 5000IU was given. but it didn't rupture then aga on 13 th day one
more shot of 5000IU was given.again it didn't rupture.now the doc gave
me one more shot on my 16th day.can u please tell me why i m not
rupturing now.As my first follicular study was done two months before
that time it did rupture. Please help..
|
|
|
Answer: In the next cycle, you should take pregnyl 10,000 units
for the rupture. Every cycle is different , so you may rupture in one
and not in the other. However, it is better to take 10,000 units
together , rather than 5000 units twice. |

Question
Hi, I m 25 year old married.I have irregular
menstrual cycle. I went to doc(before marriage) for this and she says
its a hormonal problem. She had prescribed me some tablets, but still I
have irregular periods. Is there anyway to make my periods regular? As I
m married its 1 1/2 year now, planning to have a baby, but I m worried
will I be able to conceive now. I usually get my periods after every 2-3
months, last I had on 27th June. I m oversized, my weight is 63 kgs and
5.4" hieght. Now i am taking Electroxin 1-0-1/ day for thyroid problem
and Nacfil tablets 1-0-1/day rightnow.Does these tablets help for having
regular periods?
My Test Reports: TSH - 4.00 aiu/ml where normal range is 0.5-5.1
and PRL : 10 mg/ml. And one more thing dr. prescribed me Letroz 2.5 mg
during periods D3-D7.
can have baby? Need your help for this, please suggest. |
|
|
Answer: I presume you have PCO ( polycystic ovaries ). Losing
weight would help regularize your cycles to some extent. Letroz is fine.
Your TSH value is normal. Is this while taking the thyroxine or before
that ? I do not use Nacfil, so will be unable to advice you on that.
Ultrasound monitoring will determine when you are ovulating and , once
you are ovulating, you should conceive. All the best! |

Question
Doctor, Im a 23/f and had always had my painless
periods around 42 to 45 days everymonth since i started
menstruating.Initially when i consulted my gynaec, she said its common to
have long cycles and asked me to test for t3 t4 which was very much in
normal range.after that in december 2006 i had a non stop constant
period for 15 days, and was on trapic plus regesterone tablets to stop
and regulate my cycles.I was asked to take blood test and LH was 11.7 on
the 8th day from LMP.then i was put on birth control pill to regulate
periods.By feb 2007 i got married and since then we are trying for a
baby.As the tablet ended only in march..i had regular period that time
and for the next two months we dint have intercourse as my husband went
abroad. Now again in july i had my periods which was painless but had

trapic and regesterone..she asked me to have letoval from 3rd day[when i

|
|
Answer: Have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the cycle to
determine whether you are ovulating or not , and which is your most
fertile period. Letoval has been used by some gynecologists for
ovulation induction, though it is an oncology drug and not licensed for
ovulation induction. However, you should discuss the pros & cons with
your gynec regarding that. |

Question
Dear Doc. I am 27 years old and had an MMR shot
and then managed to concieve within a week of the shot. What are the
risks? |
|
|
Answer: Since you have conceived in the first month after the MMR
, the risk of congenital rubella syndrome will be high. You should
discuss these risks with your obstetrician.
The following information would be useful to you ( from an article on
MMR ):
"How long should a woman avoid becoming pregnant after receiving MMR
vaccine?
Because of the known association between wild rubella virus and
congenital rubella syndrome (CRS), there is a theoretical risk that
rubella vaccine could cause CRS. The possibility that rubella vaccine
could cause CRS has been carefully studied and the results are very
reassuring that nobody has found any evidence that MMR vaccine can cause
congenital rubella syndrome.
Nevertheless, women are advised to avoid pregnancy for one month after
receiving a rubella-containing vaccine. This advice is the same in the
UK and the US.
"Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) can occur in a developing fetus of a
pregnant woman who has contracted rubella during her first trimester.
Problems rarely occur when rubella is contracted by the mother after 20
weeks of gestation. In 1941 it was discovered by Australian Norman
McAllister Gregg (1892-1966).
CRS can result in serious birth defects such as:
Malformations of the heart (especially patent ductus arteriosus), eyes
or brain
deafness spleen, liver or bone marrow problems (some of which may
disappear shortly after birth)
mental retardation
small head size (microcephaly)
eye defects
low birth weight
thrombocytopenic purpura
hepatomegaly
Children who have been exposed to rubella in the womb should also be
watched closely as they age for any indication of the following:
developmental delay
growth retardation
learning disabilities
diabetes
glaucoma " |

Question
I recently went through IVF and transferred 3
embies 1 8cell, 1 7 cell & 5 cell. We had a positive BETA test of 50 so
were pregnant I am Currently taking 2cc progestrone in Oil, estrace 3ml
and 100 suppository of progestrone. I am currently 6wks 1 day. I had a
brownish spotting about a week ago that was only present when I whiped
after going potty, I freaked and had my regular OB give me orders for
HCG test and it was 24. I haven't stopped any of the medication. Last
night I went and took a HPT just to take it and it positive. Is it
possible I miscarried ? and taking the meds are keeping HCG in my system
|
|
|
Answer: Sorry to hear that the value of the hcg has fallen. This
would indicate a missed abortion. The urine test may remain positive for
even for 1-2 weeks after the missed abortion. Wish you better luck next
time ! |

Answer: If you still have not got a period , do a blood test-
beta hcg. This will rule out a pregnancy. Have an ultrasound done to
rule out the presence of an ovarian cyst that can cause delayed periods.
You can take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day to get a period.
Also, have your thyroid hormones checked. |
